Our Spay / Neuter Program

Each year, thousands of unwanted animals are euthanized at shelters. The shelters are not to blame: this waste of innocent life could largely be avoided if all pet owners would spay or neuter their pets. Alas, in our current economic environment there are many loving and responsible pet owners who can’t afford these procedures.

The Animal Welfare Alliance helps make spaying and neutering more affordable for pet owners in Henderson County.

newspaper adThe AWA sponsors the Don Gladieux Memorial FREE Spay/Neuter Clinic. For a month in the fall, veterinary clinics in our area (ten participated in 2009) accept appointments for spaying and neutering procedures and send their bills to the AWA for payment.

In addition, AWA discount vouchers help defray spay/neuter expenses for needy pet owners throughout the year.

When fewer animals are conceived accidentally, fewer are abused and abandoned.
